TPS-based EAD

Clean form, urgent reverification

Handwritten, over-documented

List A and B and C all filled

Why now

The 10-day grace period is gone.

I-9 audit notices ran at more than ten times the prior year's rate in 2025, and ICE's March 2026 factsheet revision made most paperwork errors fineable immediately - up to $2,861 per form. The only time left to fix a binder is before the Notice of Inspection, which gives you three business days.

HR managers

The binder nobody has opened in two years: purged forms, missed reverifications, one predecessor’s shortcuts. Audit it before someone else does.

Immigration attorneys and paralegals

Client audits without the per-form grunt work - upload the binder, get findings with M-274 correction instructions, review under privilege.

PEOs and HR consultants

Audit-readiness across many small clients, each with their own document chaos, in one afternoon instead of one engagement each.

Every check, and the rule behind it

The model reads the form; plain code applies the rules. Timing findings show the deadline math, so every flag can be verified against the original in seconds.

Form edition

Edition in the footer must have been current on the completion date; 08/01/23 retires for new hires July 31, 2026

Section 1 timing

Employee signs no later than the first day of employment

Section 2 timing

Employer certifies within 3 business days of the first day - weekends and federal holidays counted out, math shown

Section 1 completeness

Name, date of birth, exactly one status box, A-Number / I-94 / passport number where the box requires it, signature and date

Section 2 documents

One List A document OR List B plus List C - titles, numbers, authorities recorded; over-documentation flagged

Certification block

First day of employment, employer signature, date, name and title, business name and address

Reverification

Work-authorization end dates flagged by urgency; TPS and parole-based EAD categories (A12, C19, C11) called out

Fine exposure

Violation rate x ICE’s published 2025-adjusted per-form range ($288-$2,861), labeled as an estimate

Selecting only some employees for an audit based on citizenship or national origin can itself violate the law - audit everyone.

Questions HR and compliance teams ask

ICE revised its I-9 inspection factsheet on March 16, 2026, reclassifying many errors that used to get a 10-day cure period - missing dates of birth, missing signature dates, incomplete Section 2 document data - as substantive violations, fineable immediately. Fixing your forms before an inspection is now the only time you can fix them.

Yes. The OCR layer is built for handwriting and rough scans, and the checker knows every form edition back to 2016 - including that the 08/01/23 edition stops being valid for new hires after July 31, 2026.

Findings tagged fineable now are substantive violations under ICE’s current factsheet - no cure period applies. Findings tagged fix now are technical failures that are still correctable. Needs review means a person should look at the original before deciding.

Per the USCIS handbook (M-274): draw a line through the incorrect entry, add the correct information, then initial and date the correction. Section 1 errors are corrected by the employee only. Never backdate, never use correction fluid. Every finding in the report carries its own correction instruction, and each form gets a copy-ready correction memo.

No. The checker reports what the form shows - missing fields, late dates, wrong editions, expiring documents. It never judges any person’s employment authorization or whether a document is genuine. Those calls belong to you and your counsel.

ICE’s method: forms with substantive violations divided by forms checked gives a violation rate, which sets a base fine per form inside the published 2025-adjusted range of $288 to $2,861. The report shows the band and labels it an estimate - ICE also applies aggravating and mitigating factors.

Upload one form per file for accurate per-employee results. If the binder is one PDF, run it through the free document splitter first - it separates the forms in one pass.

Files are transferred encrypted and processed on SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certified, HIPAA compliant infrastructure, and they are never used to train models. Processing is automated end to end. This tool is not an I-9 retention system - your originals stay wherever you keep them.

The later of three years after the hire date or one year after employment ends - and they must be producible within three business days of an inspection notice. One warning: never destroy forms after a Notice of Inspection has been served.
